Policy in the use of chemicals
We have set options on integrated pest control. As a consequence of this option, the Company must maintain a balance of ecosystems in oil palm plantations. In the application of integrated pest control, the use of chemicals is at risk of endangering the important biological agents that are preserved as natural enemies of the pest and are therefore only selectively implemented based on the results of ecosystem analysis on pest observation results and taking into account the economic threshold. The pesticides used are only the most effective and permitted by the government.

Utilization of biological agents for pest control.
The company preserves the owl (Tyto alba) as an environmentally friendly mouse-guard pest control agent. By the end of 2015, Tyto alba’s parent population reaches 11,490 heads. We develop different types of flowering plants as alternative host plants as well as food sources for parasitoid insects and natural enemies OPT: Turnera subulata, Turnera ulmifolia, Euporbia heterophylla, Cassia tora, Antigonon leptopus vital role to realize the abundance of insect population of biological agents so as to suppress pest attack. The company also utilizes microorganisms such as the MNPV virus (Mono nuclear polyhedral virus) to infect and cause diseases in caterpillar pests of the types of Theya asigna and Setora nitens. The Company explores the existence of biological agents that can be utilized to control pests. Natural biological agents within the palm oil plantations are more suitable for local plant-disturbing organism types because they are part of the ecosystem and can be used to maintain ecosystem balance.
